Getting Started
- How do I connect my Turo emails to CarShareBooks?
- Go to Settings → Email Forwarding in your dashboard. You'll see a unique CarShareBooks email address. In your email client, create a forwarding rule that sends all emails from noreply@turo.com to that address. Trips will appear in your dashboard within seconds of the email arriving.
- How do I connect QuickBooks Online?
- Go to Settings → Integrations in your dashboard and click 'Connect QuickBooks Online'. You'll be redirected to Intuit's login page to authorize the connection.
- What if I received Turo emails before connecting QuickBooks?
- Trips are always saved when the email arrives. Any journal entries you generate before QuickBooks Online is connected are saved as Drafts. Once you connect QuickBooks Online, a 'Post All Drafts to QuickBooks' button appears on each trip.
QuickBooks Integration
- What does CarShareBooks write to QuickBooks?
- CarShareBooks creates one Journal Entry per Turo trip. Each entry records: gross trip earnings, Turo platform fee, and net payout. No other data is written — CarShareBooks cannot modify your chart of accounts, customers, invoices, or payments.
- Which QuickBooks accounts does CarShareBooks use?
- During setup you map your own QuickBooks Online accounts to each line item. Defaults are: Gross Earnings → 'Turo Income', Platform Fee → 'Turo Platform Fees', Net Payout → 'Undeposited Funds'. You can change these at any time in Settings → Integrations.
- Can I disconnect QuickBooks?
- Yes. Go to Settings → Integrations and click 'Disconnect QuickBooks'. This immediately revokes CarShareBooks's access token with Intuit and removes all QuickBooks Online credentials from our servers.
Security & Privacy
- How does CarShareBooks store my QuickBooks credentials?
- CarShareBooks never stores your QuickBooks password. The OAuth access and refresh tokens issued by Intuit are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database.
- Can CarShareBooks see my QuickBooks data?
- CarShareBooks only reads the minimum data needed to post journal entries: your company ID and chart of accounts. It does not read your existing transactions, customers, employees, bank balances, or any other financial data.
